Networks Microstran is designed to integrate seamlessly with both Windows and Novell networks. Program and data folders may be located on either server or workstation. Network licensing is controlled with a network lock, which may be installed on any computer on the network. Users across the whole network are validated up to the concurrent user limit. Network Files Microstran supports the standard Windows convention for identifying the location of files and folders, for example: \\Server\Users Files\Microstran\Portal Frame.msw From the File Open dialog box you can directly browse the network and open files without having to make explicit network connections (i.e. mapping drives).
Network Printers The Microstran Page Setup command lets you use any accessible printer on the network without having to change the default Windows printer settings for your workstation. The Page Setup dialog box, shown below, lists all installed printers together with the available page sizes for each. This facility is very convenient because you may need to use different printers for different types of output, for example, A4 for reports and A3 or color for graphics.
Temporary Files By default, Microstran writes intermediate files into the temporary file folder defined by the Windows environment. This is usually on the local workstation in order to minimize network traffic. You may easily reconfigure Microstran to use another folder if you wish.
