Reinforced Concrete Design

The RC Design module allows you to design columns and beams to the requirements of AS3600-1994. A separate option is available for the British code BS8110:Part 1:1985. The RC Detailing module uses the design data to generate reinforcement layout and bar schedules in CAD DXF format.

Much of the design data - member geometry, loads and member forces - is extracted automatically from the Microstran database. The designer sets design parameters and selects the load cases to be used for strength and serviceability. Default settings for design and detailing parameters may be modified using options on the Configuration menu. Members are initialized as either beams or columns and may be "linked" to allow the RC modules to process a run of members.

RC Column Data

RC COLUMN DESIGN DIALOG BOX

Columns may be of rectangular or circular section with regular reinforcement layout. The dialog box above is used for entering design data for columns. In interactive mode, you may change items in this dialog box if the design is not satisfactory. Moments are magnified for slender columns and biaxial bending effects are treated rigorously.

RC Beam Data

RC BEAM DESIGN DIALOG BOX

Beams may be of rectangular, Tee or L-section. The beam design module determines longitudinal and shear steel requirements, and computes cracked section deformations. The dialog box above is used for entering design data for beams. In interactive mode, you may change items in this dialog box if the design is not satisfactory.
